Foolish Thoughts #5: "Wow, it takes much more than I thought!"

On Wed., April 25, 2019, I had the pleasure of giving a two-hour overview presentation on what it takes to put together a eLearning course. This overview was given to the Training Committee of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS).

NCCS is sponsored by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) and is an advisory group to Scouting BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America). NCCS "seeks to sustain and strengthen the relationship between BSA and the Catholic Church in the United States."

The Training Committee has multiple roles, but one of them is to provide training support to the various committees on a national and diocesan level.

During the presentation, I went over the storyboarding, roles/responsibilities, etc. At the end, one of the committee members said to me "Wow, it takes much more than I thought." Yes it does.

As the NCCS moves into the world of eLearning for training of position specific roles, religious emblem counselors, etc., it was great to not only share my knowledge with them but get them to understand that it does take more work up front to reach those who support Scouting in the Catholic Church.
