Foolish Thoughts #13: Just Say No!

That was the key message of First Lady Nancy Reagan, in regards to using drugs. The message and concept were quite simple: Use of illegal drugs is harmful to you and to those around you.

Many of us have a problem with this concept (“Just Say No”), when others ask us to do something, both at work and in our personal lives. Why? Because we are worried about what others will say or think about us.

Nevertheless, because many of us refuse to say "no," we can experience a higher level of stress and burnout. Of course, this leads us to a loss of control over our daily lives.

It is okay to say “no,” to new tasks, as it allows you to complete the tasks you have agreed to in a timely and efficient manner.

So, the next time someone asks you to take on a new commitment, take an honest moment to think about it and if appropriate, "Just Say No."
